Dorset New Forest Tourism Partnership and the Dorset Retail Skillshop work to attract funding from major agencies, governments and local authorities to support the tourism and retail industries throughout Dorset. They are both backed by all major players including Chambers of Commerce, Trade Organisations, the Sector Skills Councils, regional tourism boards and government agencies such as SWRDA and the Learning and Skills Council whose funding they work with.
In a nutshell, the Partnership and the Retail Skillshop seek to upskill the workforce through subsidised training and business support (applying for government money for training and business support grants). Right now the Partnership has secured funding designed to help local businesses make the most of the opportunities that come with 2012 (and build a legacy)

As you know, with 2012 around the corner all eyes are upon Weymouth and Portland. In hospitality this mean's that, equal to anything else, customer service is well and truly in the spotlight.
Free customer service training is currently being offered by Dorset New Forest Tourism Partnership. This is a fantastic opportunity to check that your customer service is bang up to date and in-line with industry standards.
Training is fully funded for a limited period, and consists of four days (spread over several weeks) and will help all participants to understand the latest customer trends, visitor expectations especially those of international and special needs customers, and how to deal with difficult and unfamiliar situations.

2012 in also around the corner in the retail world. The Dorset Retail Skillshop works with retailers to support and grow their business. The Skillshop offers quality subsidised short courses that are right for retail at this time.
Right now there's help to motivate sales staff through the super Supersellers course and events and courses designed to boost trade through window displays and merchandising techniques. All courses arranged by the Retail Skillshop are subsidised and designed primarily with the retail independent in mind.
