EXCITING NEW HOME FOR WEYMOUTH YACHT BUSINESS

Having revolutionised the marketplace for the boat seller on the south coast the Cove Yacht Brokerage, owned and run by brothers Richard and Simon Meers, are now making another exciting contribution to the world of marine business with an expansion programme which has taken them into the heart of world sailing at Osprey Quay in the midst of the Olympic sailing community.

Richard and Simon have applied their wealth of business experience, in tandem with their passion for yachts, and successfully built a yacht brokerage from their premises on the Old Harbourside adjacent to Weymouth’s picturesque port. The brothers believe the time is now right, with the Olympic Games now less than one thousand days distant, to expand into new ventures with offices and associated buildings at the prestigious Osprey Quay on the World Heritage designated coastline. However, the Cove Brokerage will retain it’s presence in the heart of Weymouth and thus continue to provide convenient access to an extensive clientele. The important core ethics of the business will also remain, with quality of service, integrity and honesty being the watchwords.

The extensive new facilities at Portland Marina within Osprey Quay comprise of offices, from which amongst other activities the yacht brokerage will be expanded, and two large units which will house the new ventures under the guise of Cove Marine. One unit will house a new sales department which will be a dedicated outlet for new craft of the sports/sports fishing and bowrider genres. Cove Marine is privileged to be the sole importer for Proline, an American company, and the Canadian manufacturer, Grew. The former offer a range of sports fishing boats, whilst Grew, are established in the bowrider and cuddy market as well as producing fishing boats under the Profisher brand.
Simon Meers believes that ‘the range of craft we are importing, with a price range from £12,000 to £250,000 will provide a good match for the marketplace, not merely in and around Weymouth, but throughout the country. Accordingly, during 2010 we will be exhibiting at the Birmingham NEC and Southampton boat shows’.

The second new venture, again located at Portland Marina, centres on the provision of marine services. Currently everything from rigging and spars through boat refinishing (both fibreglass and wood) to osmosis treatments can be catered for. The plan is, in the near future, to augment those with the addition of mechanical and electrical engineers to provide a true ‘one stop shop’ for the boat owner who’s craft requires maintenance and/or improvement.

Simon Meers says of the future for Cove Marine, ‘The ‘one stop shop is ideal for local boat users and, as with the sales division, we will provide a high quality customer centred service, the ethic of which has been evident in the brokerage side of the business to date. To enable us to achieve these standards we have enrolled additional and appropriately skilled individuals to the team’.

The new Cove Yacht Brokerage offices are located at 12a, Portland Marina, Osprey Quay, Portland, DT5 1DX whilst the Sales Department can be found at unit 23 and the Service Centre at 25.  Telephone 01305 789944.  www.coveyachts.co.uk
