It quickly became clear that the original installation had never really worked as well as it should. One of the gates couldn't fully open back against the driveway, leaving almost half a metre of the entrance permanently obstructed. The control equipment had been mounted onto exterior plywood which had deteriorated badly over the years, while the original mounting arrangements on the stone gate piers were far from ideal for modern automation.

The customer explained that for almost twenty years they had simply lived with the inconvenience, assuming it was just one of those things.

The old equipment was removed completely and replaced with a pair of premium CAME Stylo articulated gate motors, one of the manufacturers Daniel trusts time and time again. Bespoke 10mm steel mounting plates were fabricated specifically for the project, zinc treated and professionally painted to maximise corrosion resistance and ensure the installation would stand the test of time.

All of the external cabling was renewed, new drive-through photocell posts and safety devices were installed, and the entire system was rebuilt around a modern CAME ZLX24SA control board complete with BUS photocells. To add even more convenience, the customer also received an integrated RGSM module, allowing them to control their gates via a smartphone app or even voice control.

Perhaps the biggest improvement came from Daniel's careful calculations when setting the motor geometry. By selecting the correct transmission arms and redesigning the installation, the left-hand gate now opens fully back to the driveway kerb, giving the homeowners unrestricted use of their full driveway width for the very first time in around twenty years.

The result wasn't simply a repair. It was a complete transformation.
