General Manager, Peter Burks explained: “We’re delighted to be supporting The Royal British Legion by offering our customers poppies.

“It’s important to remember those who gave their lives for the freedom we enjoy now. Wearing one of The Royal British Legion’s poppies is a fantastic way to show your support.

“The money raised will go towards providing financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served, and are currently serving in the Armed Forces, and their dependants.”

Volunteers and representatives from The Royal British Legion will be at Sanders Garden World from Monday, November 1 until Thursday, November 11, excluding Sunday, November 7, from 11am until 3.30pm.

Standard Bearer, Frances Puddy from Brent Knoll will be at the garden centre in full uniform at 11am on Thursday, November 11 to hold a two minute silence.

The Royal British Legion was founded in 1921 as a voice for the serving and ex-service community and more than 380,000 members continue to ensure that this voice does not go unheard.

Although the needs of serving and ex-service people have changed during the years, the Legion is still there to safeguard their welfare, interests and memory.

Peter added: “Last year our customers helped raise more than £2,000 for The Royal British Legion from poppy donations. This year we hope to raise even more and see lots of people wearing their poppies with pride.”

The poppies will be available from Sanders Garden World for a donation to the charity from Monday, November 1 until Thursday, November 11, excluding Sunday, November 7, from 11am until 3.30pm.
