A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... our resident de Havilland Philharmonic Orchestra play music from film favourites!

This May, we are thrilled to celebrate music from the stage and screen.

  • Elmer Bernstein – The Great Escape
  • Various composers – James Bond Suite
  • John Williams – Harry Potter Suite
  • John Williams – Adventures on Earth (E.T.)
  • Michael Giacchino – Star Trek into Darkness
  • Hans Zimmer – Themes from Gladiator
  • John Willliams – Jurassic Park
  • Klaus Badelt – Pirates of the Caribbean
  • John Williams – Star Wars Suite

Our May concert coincides with the Sonic Herts Festival – the University's annual music festival – and this year, the Orchestra is excited to perform music from the giants of the big screen!

The concert opens the 60-year-old classic score from Elmer Bernstein for The Great Escape followed by the quintessential suite of tunes from the James Bond films. Moving to the current golden era of film, the orchestra visits scores from the contemporary giants Hans Zimmer and John Williams, who both still write music for films.

Join us to enjoy these fantastic film favourites in one of our most popular concerts of the season!
