Don’t forget to ‘recycle right’ this Christmas as bin collection days change during the festive season.

You can recycle your plain Christmas cards and wrapping paper in your new blue-lidded wheeled bin.

Please only recycle Christmas cards and wrapping paper that do not have foil, glitter, laminate, embossing or sticky tape on them.

You can also dispose of all your leftover food in your green-lidded wheeled bin. This includes all cooked and uncooked food, including bones and carcasses or make sure of your new kitchen caddy and liners, which Watford Borough Council recently sent to all houses* in Watford.

You can use your green bin for food leftovers and peelings. But before you bin your leftover turkey and roast potatoes visit the Love Food Hate Waste website at www.lovefoodhatewaste.com to discover how you can create delicious recipes, save money and waste less food. Also, remember to make use of your new kitchen caddy and liners, which Watford Borough Council recently sent to all houses* in Watford.

Cardboard should be recycled in your blue-lidded wheeled recycling bin.

Remember that all your glass bottles, jars (including lids), cans, mixed plastics and most plastic packaging need to be recycled in your blue-lidded wheeled recycling bin. Squashing these items will allow you to fit more in the bin.

Real Christmas trees can be recycled in your green-lidded wheeled bin. Please cut up any large branches so that the bin can be easily emptied. Larger trees can be stacked next to your green-lidded wheeled bin on the day of collection. If your tree is over 6ft tall please cut it in half.

* If you live in a flat but would like to be part of the food waste scheme, please email enquiries.watford@veolia.co.uk.
