Jump's Inspiration

Like many charities, the story of Jump had an emotional start. It was created in memory of Jacob Hawthorn, a remarkable little boy who suffered with muscular dystrophy. The condition is a muscle wasting disease that severely affects movement and mobility.

Jacob's family worked very hard to overcome the barriers that the condition presented to ensure that he had lots of positive experiences in his life. Sadly, Jacob passed away in 2004 aged just 3 years old.

His family found a small amount of comfort from the wonderful collection of photographs and video clips they had built throughout his life and so the idea behind Jump was born. The charity now captures special memories of children with life-limiting illness for families to cherish forever.
