After having a couple of takeaway Sunday lunches from here and being very impressed, we thought that we would visit to sample their daytime menu
And we are glad that we did, my wifes' chicken in BBQ sauce with cheese and bacon was lovely, i had the steak and ale pie, we both upgraded to the home made chips, and it proved to be a good choice, everything was first class, and my wife declared the gravy that came with my pie was the best she had ever tasted
I also had a pint of the Hobgoblin pale ale which was superb
Service was excellent and with the offer of 2-1 on main meals on a Tuesday the bill came to £24 with the drinks
All in all a lovely meal, lovely beer and great service we will be sure to try again thank you

There were 4 of us booked in for 8.30. We were called and told that we could only order from the English menu until 8 pm..ummm. we agreed to change our booking, however, when we arrived there was confusion about our seating area. We eventually got our table, ordered our food which came in a reasonable time. The Indian mixed grill was great, and the short rib was well cooked, both looked nice. My friend had lasagne which was average. I ordered a sweet chicken sizzler which didn't sizzle and looked pale and unappealing. The taste was average, the look was off putting as there was no colour in it.

A very good country pub serving typical pub fare.Went there for Boxing day evening meal and had a good 3 course meal for a very reasonable price.The staff were very helpfull and attentive and i would certainly pay further visits.

We had a lovely relaxed family meal. Staff were attentive but we weren't rushed in any way so it was a lovely get together. The food was delicious and came in great portions and piping hot. We had no room for dessert which is a rarity but the mains were excellent. I had the lamb shank which was very nice and the rest of our group were also equally pleased with the beer battered cod and the Teriyaki Salmon. The children's meals are also a good size and we're enjoyed. My son also had a starter which was very generous and so he was so full he wasn't able to finish his main course but they were very happy to provide a box so that we could take it home. All in all an excellent experience. We shall be back.

We haven't been here in a good while after being disappointed with the food but tonight we did and what a night it was. The meals were sublime, the ivy house is definitely back on top. Every dish was delicious, the real ales on cask bosting and the service was second to none. All the staff were wonderful but I have to single out Sam who had us howling with her banter.

Ordered 8 takeaway Sunday lunches, (after wedding treat) , 3 meat selection, was still piping hot when I arrived home. Everyone really enjoyed the selection of veg, meats and yorkies. Most of us couldn’t eat it all.. well worth every penny. Thank you. Do try it, you wont be disappointed

Nice dinner .. terrible customer service
We visited today with friends. Prebooked a table online for 5.15pm
Upon arrival we were seated, we were then rushed to make our food choices to be told that we needed to order immediately as the kitchen was closing. We did want starters, but changed our mind after we were told if we had starters they would come out with our main meals.
We ordered meal, took a while for them to get it right, things missing from order but this was dealt with quickly. I will say that the Sunday dinner was lovely & I would recommend the food. My partner had surf & turf, the steak was not cooked as he had asked but he ate it & he said it was ok.
Before we even had chance to decide if we wanted dessert one of the waitresses told us that we couldn’t have a pudding even if we wanted one because the kitchen was closed & being cleaned.
The food was nice but we will not be going back any time soon, my advice would be not to book tables for people expecting to have a meal at the same time you know your kitchen is closing. Why book a table for 5.15 pm & the kitchen also closes at 5.15 pm, this just doesn’t make sense.
