Friendly, well stocked real ale pub.
Arrived after a long late train journey. Welcoming knowledgeable bar staff and regulars.
16 hand pumps available, 3 regulars and rest guest ales, mostly midlands. Notice behind Bar said over 600 guest ales this year and I believe it.
Mini beer festival next week.
Only downside is it's a way up the high street opposite Asda and on way there 10pm on weekday night barely saw a soul outside, even fewer an hour later.

Visited both in the week and on a Sunday for lunch. The food is much better in the week and the menu is varied. On Sunday there is a set lunch- it gets busy but there is minimal staff. Despite ringing to pre order one of our group had to wait for their lunch and the rest of us had finished ours before she got hers. Staff member was quite impatient and didnt apologise for the late meal.

This is a real gem the ciders and ales are fantastic! Decor is lovely and I love that there are fresh plants everywhere. The only down side is that I felt the toilets weren't that clean and they could do we been redecorated.

Had some great nights here. Great beers, cheese and onion cobs what more could you ask for. Check when live music is on if you like a boogie.

My husband wanted to visit here as it appears as recommended in Camra.
The pub is very friendly and homely, decorated in a old fashioned way.
Although we didn't eat there, the menu looked really good with a lot more choice than you expect, even for vegetarians.
It may look a bit scary on the outside but would recommend trying it out.

They had 17 ales on tap and a knowledgeable bar keeper. It's a comfortable place with a great atmosphere.

Having passed this pub on many occasions over the years I finally ventured inside and wasn't disappointed. The first thing that struck me was the size of the place. From the outside it doesn't look very big but it stretches quite a way back and there are plenty of tables. There is a plentiful supply of real ales. There is quite an extensive menu and I chose the Brunch with a potato wedges. The portions were huge and looking round other diners this seemed to be the case for the menu as a whole. The staff were very pleasant making me wish I had used the pub before. One thing's for certain,it won't be my last visit.
