This is a nice pub on 3 levels with plenty of seating and a chance to get away from the throng if you don't like pubs too noisy. They have an unquestionably fantastic beer range with plenty on offer to suit all tastes. We were staying in Walsall for the weekend and so I'd looked up the menu beforehand for our evening meal and I was very excited at the prospect of Cheese, potato and onion pie. I'm vegetarian and don't have the option of having pie very often. When it arrived I was so disappointed as it wasn't pie of the pastry variety but pie as in cottage pie. So what I ended up with was essentially mash with cheese on served on its own in a lasagne size dish. Gutted didn't even cover it. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty mash but I was still hungry after eating it and I also felt that £5.95 for mash with cheese on wasn't good value. For less money I could have got a burger, chips and salad. How does that work? I had proper menu envy as everyone else in the pub seemed to have a big plate of food. My husband had a fish pie and that came with salad and garlic bread and he enjoyed that. Ah well , you don't win them all!

I went to The Black Country Arms to eat and, although the cottage pie & veg. was good quality, there wasn't enough of it. Perhaps a 'side' of roast potatoes could be added.

This had a good atmosphere and a quite good menu. At the time we went it was quiet but as there was only one staff on duty this was good. Food was good, prices sensible.
Will go again, pleasantly suprised.

A jewel in the Black Country Ales crown of pubs they own.
This grade 2 listed place is amazing for their excellent range of real ales & ciders, usually about 16 available.
2nd in Walsall Camra pub of the year.
Food served up till about 7.45pm on week days.
Cobs available thorough out the day & evening.
Brilliant land lady & staff behind bar.
A pleasure to always come here.
It is set over 3 levels, with toilets upstairs.
Originally called the Green Dragon, this is an old 18 century inn that had lain shut for 70 years before it re-opened in 1987.
Opens from 11am weekdays & from 12pm on Sat & Sun.

Visited here many times, be it just for a quiet drink, or something to eat. If you're an ale drinker like myself, then there is simply no other pub in Walsall that can boast such a large and ever-changing selection. Also serves the more common drinks
The food is equally good, a varied menu is available, and the portion sizes are great. Food takes a bit longer to get to you compared to other establishments, but this is a good thing, its always excellent quality, piping hot, although as stated on their website, you can always call ahead if you're in a hurry.
Atmosphere is also great, very easy to just pop in and have a quiet pint.

Made a return visit with some friends in September and October. Excellent array of beers on tap and good menu. Value for money food but on the October visit the liver dish was more gravy than liver, still tasty though and will be returning.
