Walsall BME Advice Centre is pleased to announce the launching of 'Our World' Women's Intergenerational Health & Wellbeing Network on 8th March Thursday at 1pm-3pm @Community Engagement Centre (formerly Apna Ghar Day Centre), Ford Street, Pleck, Walsall WS2 9BW. The group will meet every Thursday(except school holidays)from1-2.30pm. It's free to attend the session and free refreshments are provided.
The objective of the project is to engage women that are less likely to socialise, taking up healthy lifestyles and accessing statutory and other essential services and are at risk of social isolation or living with long-term health conditions such as diabetes, dementia, depression, arthritis etc. or experience anxiety, low self esteem or any other mental/physical health condition.
Thus by promoting the benefits of physical activity and healthy living in a group learning setting, we aim to enable women from economically disadvantaged communities, their carers and immediate family members to learn and adapt the mechanism of tackling obesity, chronic and long-term diseases.
It is a well-established fact that age and loneliness can be one of the significant risk factors for developing dementia, depression and other health issues and people from economically disadvantaged communities are the most high-risk groups.
Activities will include seated exercise, Taikowando, workshops, group swimming sessions, awareness sessions, health checks, Skittles, Floor basketball, healthy cooking, basic baking, and various stimulating activities that cater the needs of both younger and older adults.
Please come along to enjoy a free pampering session and opportunities to meet our ladies.
Refreshments including samosas will be available on the day.
If you are an activity provider please get in touch with us to arrange some sessions.
