'Curves' is a women’s only gym in the heart of Truro and next month they will be re-launching a hugely popular campaign that helps its members support local charities.

From April 1 – 16 Curves is asking new members to donate a bag a groceries to either Age Concern Cornwall or the Women’s Refuge, both based in the heart of the city.

In return for the bag of shopping ladies are offered the chance to join the gym free of charge!  Not bad eh?

Owner of Curves Truro, Jennie Boulton, said: “We have run the Food Drive initiative in the past and it is always a hit. It’s a great way of kick-starting your fitness programme, whilst doing something positive for your local community.”

Bags of groceries should include pasta, rice, tinned soup, tinned vegetables, coffee, sugar, tea bags, baked beans, tinned fruit and dried cereals or porridge.

Jennie said: “Our current members are also very supportive of the Food Drive project and bring in their own bags of groceries to donate, which we really appreciate. It’s a project that seems to ignite a sense of community

With summer just around the corner the Curves workout will help women look bikini ready for the beach."

A Curves workout involves a 30 minute cardio and strength-training workout using resistance machine that work every major muscle group; allowing you to burn up to 500 calories per visit.

Anyone interested in taking part in the Food Drop initiative can pop into Curves Truro for more information and to have a trial visit for free.

The gym can be found at Rear Annex, The Old Chapel, St Clements Street or call them on 01872 321217.
