NhSOUND is Abergavenny's Community Radio. Broadcasting 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year to the community of Abergavenny, the world-wide web and especially to the patients of Nevill Hall Hospital

Broadcasting on: 1287am, online, and also the Hospedia Network

NHSound is a volunteer-run hospital radio service based at Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny. We are a registered charity (no. 1137868) and are a member of the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA).

We broadcast 'on air' 24/7 all year round, providing relief from the effects of sickness, infirmary, and old age to patients within Nevill Hall Hospital, as well as serving  the local and wider community of Abergavenny in providing a means for exchanging ideas and information, by explaining, publicising, and promoting information to all sections of the community.

We broadcast a variety of live radio programmes prepared by our volunteer presenters, providing a variety of music and live radio programmes that caters for a broad range of tastes. Why not take a look at our programme schedule to see if any programmes you might be interested in? You can listen online, 1287am/mw (Local to Abergavenny area), or within Nevill Hall Hospital via Hospedia.

We first started out in Abergavenny at the Pen-y-Fal Hospital (The Monmouthshire County Asylum) in 1979 as the Pen-y-Fal Hospital Radio Society (Charity no. 510038). With the re-organisation of health provision within the county, Pen-y-Fal was closed down in 1996, so we transferred to the grounds of Nevill Hall Hospital.

With changes to the Charities Commission Legislation, our Board of Trustees felt it was time to change our name to NhSound, requiring us to obtain a new Charities Commission Number (1137868). We were formally registered as NHSound in September 2010, and continue to develop to this day.
