It is already one of the largest and fastest circuits in the country, but Lakeside Karting – Thurrock’s premier racing venue – has just got even better.

The famous karting facility has recently taken delivery of 35 brand new, latest specification, BIZ corporate Prokarts to further enhance the experience of its thrill-seeking visitors. The Prokarts are fully equipped and fitted with 320cc Honda engines and are capable of reaching speeds up to 70mph, making them not only quicker but also more responsive and stable, especially during cornering.

Don O’Sullivan, Lakeside Karting’s workshop manager, said: “The new karts have really impressed me. With newly engineered chassis’ and over 10kg lighter, they are certainly a little more responsive and incredibly stable during cornering.

“As a company, we have a policy of constant preventative maintenance - this keeps reliability and uniformity as high as it possibly can be. But by regularly replacing our whole fleet we can supply a product that is cutting edge in both design and safety features - it’s a kart we’re extremely proud of.”

In addition to the new fleet, Lakeside Karting has also completed construction of its new Junior Circuit which is open for business seven days a week and is already a hit with youngsters looking for excitement during the summer break.

The Junior Circuit is a dedicated children’s circuit especially for younger drivers, with safety at its core. It caters for children from the ages of 3+ in the F1 Electric Funkarts while Bambino Karts are available for children aged 6 to 7.

Safety is paramount at Lakeside Karting and mandatory lessons are run for Bambinos before they are allowed to turn up and drive. The go-karting venue is offering drivers aged 6-7 years old the opportunity to drive a 100cc petrol-engine Bambino go-kart in a safe and controlled environment. Youngsters will learn the basic skills required to drive quickly and safely before moving up to the main circuit and then on to a cadet kart once they’re eight. The tuition is made up of three 30-minute lessons including up to 10-minutes in the kart which is priced at £20 per lesson. All three lessons can be purchased at once for a discounted price of £50.

Once the child completes the school, they will receive a licence that will allow them to drive practice sessions on the Junior Circuit.
