Set up by Ramblers - Britain’s Walking Charity, The Festival of Winter Walks aims to encourage people to do more walking and make walking paths safer, and what better time to take part than the Christmas period.

Giving you a chance to exercise before Christmas or burn off your Christmas dinner, there are hundreds of FREE woodland walks taking place all over the country between 19 December 2015 and 3 January 2016.  

With lots of trails to suit all ages, walking is something you can do with the whole family AND you will get a chance to explore the wintry landscape.

Check out some of the walks taking place in The Highlands:


Dunain Hill – Bunchrew Circ

When: Saturday, 19 December 2015 (Group: Inverness)
Meeting time: 10:00, Start time 10:00
Walk Type: Moderate 7 miles / 11.3 km


Mystery Walk

When: Tuesday, 29 December 2015
Meeting time: 11:30, start time: 11:30
Walk type:  Leisurely 5 miles / 8 km


Gallowhill to Redcastle

When: Saturday, 2 January 2016
Meeting time: 10:00, Start time: 10:20
Walk type: Leisurely 6 miles / 9.7 km
