King of Retail George Davies launched Pop-Up Moreton in Moreton-in-Marsh’s Old Market Way on Friday 1 February
Local resident and King of Retail George Davies officially unveiled PopUp Moreton, the first PopUp Shop outside London to be associated with StartUp Britain’s PopUp Shop initiative.
On opening PopUp Moreton, Mr Davies said, “When I was asked to open this shop, I was delighted to say yes because I think any concept that is innovative in retailing is essential. The way this operates gives opportunity to a lot of different people. We are very lucky here in Moreton to have it.”
The first three tenants of PopUp Moreton share a romantic theme for the run up to Valentine’s Day and have already nicknamed themselves “The One-Stop Love Shop”. The three tenant’s in situ right up until Thursday 14 February are the Dating Fairy Godmother Lynette Berry of Cherrypick Private Client Introductions, Rosablue’s Penny Menato and Julia Lucas of Objets d’Amour.
They will be replaced by Flip Antiques, Vintage Decor and Florence & Belle, who have been grouped together under the Cotswold tourism theme of “Vintage & Modern”.
Pop-Up Moreton will be open for eight weeks till Thursday 28 March. During that time, 12 companies will have the chance to spend two weeks each in the retail unit in Old Market Way, with three companies sharing the space at any one time. Each tenant is paying a fee of just £100 (to include rent, insurance and Wifi access to enable people to carry on working while in situ), which will give them a chance to spend two weeks trialling a physical retail space, generating marketing buzz and raising the profile of their products and/or company, thereby gaining invaluable customer service experience, and testing the market through a low-risk and relatively inexpensive method.
