Council on a roll after loo awards

ARTICLE FROM THE COTSWOLD JOURNAL!

COTSWOLD District Council was flushed with success after public conveniences in the district were voted the fifth best in Britain at the 2010 Loo of the Year awards.

The council is on a roll after winning awards for the third year running, scooping eighth place last year.

Ten loos in the district attracted a five star rating from the judges including the facilities at the Brewery and Forum car parks as well as London Road in Cirencester, two in Bourton-on-the-Water, two in Stow-on-the-Wold and one in Moreton-in-Marsh, Fairford and Bibury.

Cllr Mark Tufnell, cabinet member for environment and the communities, thanked hard-working toilet attendants and added: "The Cotswolds attracts many visitors throughout the year and it is important the loos are clean and welcoming. It is vitally important to our rural economy that we maintain this very high standard."
