Who are Lions?
Lions Club of Cheltenham is part of Lions Clubs International, the largest service clubs organisation in the world. There are about 1.3 million Lion members in 200 countries and geographic areas.
The first club in the UK was formed in 1950 and the organisation has rapidly expanded to more than 900 clubs in Britain and Ireland today.
Lions Club of Cheltenham was formed in 1960 and presently comprises 18 men and women, all of whom are volunteers. Members come from all walks of life - there is no maximum age, and members can join at age 18. We meet on the second and fourth Monday evenings at the Victory Club, Lypiatt Road, Cheltenham.

What is the aim of Lions?
The principal aim of Lions Clubs is to provide help and funds to those in need, whilst enjoying the satisfaction, fellowship and fun that can be derived from taking part.
Lions Clubs are dedicated to improving the quality of life for those less fortunate people in our community.

New Members Required
It is inevitable that in any organisation members move on through work commitments or many other reasons and they need to be replaced.
New ideas and personalities are the life blood of any forward thinking organisation and new members bring with them not only original ideas but fresh thought and outlook on established events.
If you can sell raffle tickets or dance tickets then so much the better, if you can organise and plan events, excellent, but even if you cannot we would still like your input.
Events do not run themselves and we need all the manpower possible to ensure the continued success of the Lions Club of Cheltenham.

What would you get out of joining?
It is a cliché, but you will get out of it what you put in! Lions has been described as a constructive form of relaxation.
Working together on fund raising and community welfare events is enormous fun. The satisfaction of seeing an event through from planning and organisation to successful conclusion can be tremendous.
Receiving the thanks of the recipients of your help, whether financial or practical, lifts your spirit.
On top of all that, there is the friendship and fellowship of members of the Lions Club of Cheltenham, of Lions throughout South West England & Wales, throughout Britain & Ireland and throughout the world!
