Gloucestershire Trust Breaks Open the Bank!

GLOUCESTERSHIRE’S  piggy bank has been bringing home the bacon all year and it is now ready to dish up some grants.

The Old Spot Trust is inviting local charities, community groups and non profit making organisations to apply for grants of between £50 and £500.

Last year, grants totalling £8,000 were donated to 21 local causes including the Pied Piper Appeal, Tirley Village Hall and the Priors Park Neighbourhood Project.

The Old Spot Trust is a county-based fund-raising organization that seeks to support  groups who help the county’s people, animals, wildlife or environment.

It was set up in 2008 with the aim of helping to make Gloucestershire an even better place to live, work and learn.

The money has been raised through activities such as Frightmare and the infamous Haunted hayride as well as The Old Spot Trust cookbook which features more than 100 recipes from well-known Gloucestershire people. The book is currently on sale now at bookshops and other retailers throughout the county.

Caroline Rawlinson, Trustee of the Old Spot Trust said: ‘‘We look forward to hearing about how we can help and support initiatives that are vital to the communities they support but may otherwise get overlooked for grants or donations. For them a few hundred pounds can buy much-needed equipment, or be put towards a larger fund raising target, which will be essential in helping them get on with their valuable work.’’

Organisations wanting to apply for grants need to write to the Trustees at Over Farm, Over, Gloucester, GL2 8DB stating the name of their organisation, what they do, where they are based, how much they are bidding for and how they will use the money.

Applications will need to be submitted by Monday 31st May.

Ends                                                                                                                     06/05/10
