I met with Arfon, the owner of the Pondicherry last week for one of our regular business meetings.
As ever Arfon was as passionate about this fabulous restaurant as he was when it first opened in Ironbridge 3 years ago. Many thousands of customers later and the restaurant is as popular as it has ever been.
As you know there are plenty of Indian restaurants in Telford and many of them are very good but the Pondicherry still holds the badge for one the very best Indian restaurants in Shropshire.
The Pondicherry is far more than an Indian restaurant and as all of its fans know it is fine dining at its best. A unique menu, great chefs, top quality ingredients great service and a relentless passion to present the very best Indian food to its customers.
Combine this with it's historic venue, the old police station in Ironbridge and every visit is a special one. I still love to have pre-dinner drinks in the underground cells and read about the gruesome things that went on there in the Towns history.
As I have learned to expect, Arfon is still striving to make The Pondicherry even better and his ideas for the new menu he is planning for next year are very exciting. Watch this space. I know that I will be one of the first to book a table and sample some of the new delicacies.
The Pondicherry was open on Christmas day last year due to pressure from over a hundred of the regulars who wanted a Christmas meal with a difference. Phone Arfon if you are interested, he would love to hear from you.
We plan, next year, to hold one of our network evenings at The Pondicherry so all of you business members of 'the best of Telford and Wrekin' can look forward to a great evening sampling the best Indian food in Telford and Wrekin.
If you have never eaten at the Pondicherry then you are in for a treat, pick up the phone and treat yourself.
