Taking over the old Iceland building in the town centre, Telford Community Store is setting up shop this week ready for its official public opening this weekend.
Matt Weaver, CEO of Shropshire Community Project – the not-for-profit organisation behind the store – says, “We are thrilled to be back in Telford. So many people have emailed and messaged us on social media saying that they’ve missed the store and asking us to return. When we heard that the old Iceland building had become available we jumped at the chance to take it on. The Shrewsbury store on Cartmel Drive will also remain open.”
“We have big plans for the store in Telford and are hoping to continue what we achieved in our previous location on the Forge retail park, selling quality new and used furniture and fashion, with all surplus profits going towards local charity projects and supporting people in crisis across the region. We will also run our employability and people development programmes from the store and would encourage people to pop in and ask us for details about this.”
