Footballers in Bridgwater could find themselves jetting off to Germany on an all-expenses paid trip to the Bundesliga, if they win their local 6 a side league, after a holiday was announced as the brand new competition’s Star Prize.
Leisure Leagues – the world’s largest provider of small sided football leagues, has teamed up with Uhlsport – the German sporting goods giant – to offer the prize which could see the lucky winners in Bridgewater going to a game of their choice, or taking a host of other prizes ranging from £500 to an IPad.
Leisure Leagues Director Tom Nash explained how it would work: “Teams that win our leagues throughout the world are given trophies and a Leisure Leagues prize box, but we wanted to make it a little more special.”
The league winners in the Northgate Primary Thursday night league can still take the usual awards, or they can gamble for a spin of the wheel, which will see the holiday for six as the top prize, with Tom saying: “This is the best prize of any competition in the area.”
The draws will be done on Facebook live each month, with the lucky winners being drawn out of all the league winners throughout the country. There will also be separate draws for the runners up and wooden spoon winners.
The league will run all year round and will suit all standards from the committed trophy seeker, to those who just want a fun game, or to keep fit with their friends.
