The Mount Somerset hotel is the gateway to the South West and Taunton’s best kept secret. Nestled between the Quantocks and the Blackdown Hills, this Regency country house offers spectacular views and a tranquil setting, yet it sits just five minutes from the M5 motorway.
Built in 1805 by an Italian architect, The Mount Somerset, boasts high ceilings, large windows and a sweeping, circular staircase, providing that sense of grandeur and elegance. Lavish drapes, sumptuous sofas and cosy rooms warmed by log fires invite guests to lounge and gaze up at antique paintings and ornaments, for that luxurious home-from-home feeling.
With just 11 rooms, The Mount Somerset prides itself on providing a personal service for all its guests. Each of the newly refurbished rooms is named after one of the surrounding small villages. Welcoming touches include notes describing your village, fresh flowers and luxurious towelling robes. Four-poster beds and roll top baths are available, while all rooms have walk-in power showers and deluxe bathroom fittings, as well as breathtaking views of the surrounding hills.
You don’t have to be a guest to enjoy everything we have to offer at The Mount Somerset. Celebrate an anniversary or birthday with one of our fabulous afternoon teas, served on fine bone china with a selection of scones, cakes and elegant sandwiches. For an evening of fine dining, join us at our first class restaurant, offering award-winning food in an exquisite setting.
