The 'Best of Swindon' featured the Swindon Youth Festival on their 'Events Page' and is delighted that so many youngsters attended and enjoyed themselves.

The event, which is organised by Swindon Council in conjunction with Swindon Does Arts, featured local bands such as Guitar Stools And Cigarettes and The Echoes, as well as urban arts and adrenaline zones.

The festival was part-funded by the council’s youth services budget and by a grant from the Government’s Youth Opportunity Fund, part of the Every Child Matters campaign.

Activities at dedicated zones included a climbing wall and a basketball competition, photography and craft workshops and acoustic performances from some of the bands.

One of the event organisers, 19-year-old Josh Chesterman said, “it’s popular because I think it’s the only free event of its kind for young people in Swindon".
