Proposed Swindon Community Centre - Ideas Welcome

The Best of Swindon Team thinks it's a fantastic idea and wonderful opportunity for the local residents of Pinehurst in Swindon, that money is being invested in a new Community Centre for their future.

Swindon Council would like people to make suggestions as to what they would like to see in the proposed Community Centre and is offering support to set up groups. They also want to hear from volunteers interested in helping to run the facility, which would be on the site of the former Pine Trees residential home.

The 2-storey centre would feature a library, NHS dentists, Internet cafe and possibly a Citizens' Advice Bureau. It would also have a large main hall, 3 smaller function rooms, and a community garden.

Ed Browne, a community development officer for Pinehurst is holding drop-in sessions for potential volunteers and for those with Ideas at Pinehurst Library on Thursdays between 10am and noon. So far, he has helped residents to establish a walking group and has spoken to residents interested in setting up a children's arts and crafts group and a play scheme. Contact Mr. Browne on 07769 281655 or e-mail: ebrowne@swindon.gov.uk

The Best of Swindon Team wishes everyone involved the best of luck with this extremely worthwhile project.
