AIMEE a film for and by Swindon people

I and more than 100 others attended a short film show at the Empire Cinema last night. ( Monday 7th Jan. ) Well nothing unusual about that you might think but this was an entirely homegrown production by Firebird Films of Swindon.

The film was written, directed and produced entirely by Swindon people who used their talents and technical expertise to produce something really special for the big screen.

The acting was of a very high standard and put many of the actors we see in the national soaps to shame.

The film is called AIMEE  and is a short drama written and directed by Stephen Ware. The film was produced and financed by Firebird Films with Ross Mackenzie in the dual role of Executive Director and Director of Photography. Almost a year in the planning AIMEE was shot in Swindon in one intense week, on a Canon 7D with redrock Rigging, using only local cast and crew. It was an opportunity for those with little or no experience to get involved in the film industry and to be part of a short film that would showcase talent and be entered into select film festivals internationally.

Judging by the audience reaction their efforts were not wasted and there are already calls for this to become an annual event.

Swindon`s film industry may be small at the moment but watch out, with the talent and ability available it will really be going places.
