Friday 19th May
7:30pm until 8:30pm

Taliesin Arts Centre, Swansea .... Liz Aggis, Slap and Tickle Maverick, anarchic, indomitable and fearless: all words that have been used to describe performance artist Liz Aggiss. Born in an era when children were seen and not heard, Liz never had a clue what she wanted to do. She just knew she wanted to be seen and heard. Slap and Tickle is a dark and ribald physical commentary on cultural mores and sexual taboos: a disorientating display of interpretations and contradictions about women, girls, mothers, bitches and senior citizens.

Slap and Tickle

Maverick, anarchic, indomitable and fearless: all words that have been used to describe performance artist Liz Aggiss.

Beating a path through the personal and historical, Aggiss creates a feminist soup that lurches from spoken word to expressionist movement, from music hall to radio nostalgia, from costume change to prop manipulation.

“A very funny solo piece, no need for Aggiss to bemoan the lack of opportunities facing older women in the theatre, because she puts herself centre stage” The Guardian

“drenched in raucous, uninhibited humour, all of which nonetheless unmasks a very real world of gendered prejudices”. Róisín O’Brien seeingdance.com

“sidesplittingly funny, entertainingly choreographed and spectacularly devoid of ordinariness or political correctness”. Niki McWilliams theatre bubble

“Slap & Tickle is a vaudevillian journey through the Ages of Woman. It’s crammed with musical hall leitmotifs; Aggiss punctuates her subversive nursery rhymes and joyously grotesque phrases with shouts of, “Come on everybody! Let’s have a party! There’s a giddy, sinister air to the whole show” KA Bradley Exeunt Magazine
