The free session will be held at Care UK’s Tennyson Grange, on Westmead Road, on Thursday 30th April from 2pm-4pm.
Visitors will have the opportunity to hear from guest speakers John St John‑Mosse and Mark Jarman – two long‑standing supporters of Parkinson’s charities and well‑known figures within the local area.
John, who lives with Parkinson’s himself, has spent many years taking on extraordinary cycling challenges such as cycling through Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore to raise awareness of the condition. His close friend Mark joins him on these adventures and supports the talks they deliver across the UK.
Guests will also be able to meet the team at Tennyson Grange and take a closer look at what life is like at the care home.
Harriet Mensah-Mandley, Home Manager at Tennyson Grange, said: “According to Parkinson’s UK, two people are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease every hour in the UK*. And most people diagnosed are over the age of 50.
“At Tennyson Grange, we care for many residents living with Parkinson’s and we have seen first-hand how the experiences of individuals and their families can be transformed by having access to the right information and support.
“We’re really looking forward to welcoming the community of Sutton and helping people benefit from the knowledge and advice available.”
Designed to enable residents to lead active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Tennyson Grange incorporates plenty of space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the home has been configured to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage social interaction among the residents, and it has its very own cinema, hair and beauty salon and café.
