Art on Friday gets people to Red Lion Square ...
Thanks to Stamford Chamber of Trade and Commerce, who organised the Art on Friday exhibition, the square once more showed some signs of life after it's dismal 'revamp' earlier in the year. This is to be the first in a series of open air art exhibitions, in an attempt to breathe life into the square.

10 artists on had their work on display and there was also music to enjoy from Happy Jazz.
Together with Stamford Town Council, Stamford Town Partnership and St John's Church, the chamber has made this a weekly event, and Chamber president Tim Lee wants others to make use of the premises licence to organise events in the square.
Chamber president Tim Lee, of Christ Church Close, Stamford, is now encouraging others to make use of the premises licence and organise events in the square.
It had a good reception from both artists and visitors - previously the square was used for parking and had stalls on it on Saturdays and during market days.
Any artists who want to exhibit can call Sandra Pryor on 07932 490492 or e-mail secretary@stamfordchamber.co.uk. the exhibitions are planned throughout July.
What do you think of this?
Presumably it's in response to the traders on the square complaining that they aren't getting any business now that parking and market stalls are gone.
My 'idea' would have been to reinstate parking and market stalls - after all, these events are only on Friday's, so parking could take place the rest of the week. Ever since the 'refurbishment' the square has been abandoned, and just looks sad.
What's your opinion?
