A film called '7 days' being made for channel 4, did some filming on Monday and Tuesday this week at Stocken Prison. There were lots of extras, and some of the staff played prisoners.  the film is a hard hitting  prison drama, and stars Life on Mars actor John Simm and acclaimed actress Shirley Henderson. It's directed by Michael Winterbottom.

Simm said he thought that the surroundings provided a perfect location. He mentioned that they were staying at Barnsdale Lodge hotel, and said it was "a real pleasure to be here".

The film covers a five-year period and shows the relationship between Simm's a convicted drug smuggler (Simm) and his wife during his sentence.

The film makers apparently chose Rutland as they were impressed with the facilities - Simm was filmed in a real cell to give a realistic feel.

the prison governor said he thought it was a good opportunity for the staff and gave them a change from the usual routine.

The film won't be released for another two years and there will be more filming at Stocken later this year.
