Good Food in a Country Pub

I met with Gemma and Dixey at their pub the Hare 'N' Hounds in Greatford, a lovely country pub just a short drive from Stamford. In addition to real ales and log fires they offer a great choice in pub food. The menu changes regularly and everything is freshly prepared from snacks to three course meals. At such good value I have noted a few scrumptious examples of the type of menu you can expect.

The starters are all served with home-made bread. Starters include: Smoked Salmon and srambled eggs on toast £4.95. Chunky Chilli and pepper relish sat on a garlic crouton with sour cream £4.50. Cream of Lincolnshire Soup (leeks, parsley, and potato) £3.95.

A choice of main courses to satisfy a variety of tastes with large and small portions as appropriate include: Grilled Grimsby Haddock fillet with tar-tare sauce and mushy peas (£8.95). Home made tagliatelle with stir fried vegetables in a ginger, garlic, tomato, pepper and coriander sauce served with parmesan (large £8.95 and small £5.50).Landlords beef and ale casserole topped with hand made short crust pastry. (large £8.95 and small £5.50).

To finish off with some delicious desserts: Apple and almond sponge with vanilla custard (£4.25). Lime and glazed hazelnut tart with chocolate sauce (£4.50). Hot banana sponge with ice cream and butterscotch sauce. (£4.50)

Just what we all need for a relaxing break, eating out, and some good company.
