Fine Food indeed!

Lunch at the Fine Food Store.

Popped in to the Fine Food Store in St Mary's the other lunchtime and was pleasantly surprised.

It's got a lovely atmosphere and had plenty of customers. We dedided to try the 'secret garden' so went down the cobbled passageway and found a table. It was charming out there, but unfortunately a bit chilly, so we repaired inside instead.

I ordered a ploughmans, which usually comes with pork pie and another meat, but as I don't eat meat they said they would add more cheese. My daughter ordered the stilton baguette.

WOW! is all I can say at the portion size. I had a slab of Stilton, a wedge of vintage cheddar and a huge slice of brie. On the plate with the cheese were 4 pickled onions, a pot of sweet chutney, and a salad with dressing. A separate plate held sliced baguette and pats of real butter. My daughter's baguette was suitably large too! We also had a decaff tea and fruit juice.

Waitresses were very polite and helpful, the whole place was really friendly. I had to doggy bag some of the cheese as I really couldn't eat it all at the time (but I knew I would later!)

So all in all fabulous, fresh food, locally sourced where possible and a super ambiance make this a lovely place to pop in for tea, coffee or lunch. And while you're there you can choose from a mouthwatering array of deilcatessen items to buy and take home with you. That's in between eating the fab food and reading one of the selection of magazine available.

I'd say it's a great asset to Stamford. You can find out more about them by clicking here for the deli. or here for the coffee shop - and they also have their own website, here
