Russell Waters has been appointed General Manager at Barnsdale Hall Hotel. With over 30 years in the hospitality and hotel industry, he was appointed in September 2007, a post he accepted with passionate enthusiasm. Not least amongst his considerations is the fantastic location, set amidst conservation parkland overlooking Rutland Water, with beautiful views and a sense of peace and tranquillity.
He feels that it's a great place to start his day at work - and even feels that when he leaves, the views are just as stunning with magnificent sunsets and more.
He's a man who places great value on his staff, and is keen on bringing in new talent and expertise to freshen up his team. There's now an operations manager, an executive chef and a food and beverage team. He insists that although he instigates the management process, it's all about teamwork. Determined to succeed, highly motivated Russell believes that however good the manager, it's a good team that makes the difference.
Before joining Barnsdale Hall, Russell opened the Belfry in Nottingham, a four-star hotel that won two prestigious awards only eight months after opening - Gold for Business Tourism and Silver in the Large Hotel category in the East Midland Tourism Excellence Awards in 2006. The judges said that the hotel offered an 'exemplary service and high quality product'.
With Barnsdale he feels that Corporate business, tourists, families and time-share exchanges give the hotel a national customer base, but believes that there are plenty of international visitors as well. He's pleased with the initial feedback, mentioning excellent testimonials from both new and established clientele. Barnsdale, under Russell Waters, is set to be THE destination in Leicestershire and Rutland for both leisure and corporate clients. With new brochures and logo design and standards of quality being raised daily, he is aiming to raise the 3-stars to 4, continuing the repositioning that he started back in September.
