BROADWAY THEATRE SHOW TRANSFERS TO CORN EXCHANGE
28th January 2009

From Judith Mackie at the Corn Exchange Theatre:

"Like most other people we were devasted by the fire at the Broadway, which gives a unique opportunity to people in our area to see extremely high profile shows which wouldn't consider coming to such a small theatre as ours.

I went to several artistes booked in over the next few weeks to see if we could help, asking if they could talk to the Broadway about transfering their show. The Broadway agreed that The Vagina Monologues could be transfered. The promoters were impressed with our enthusiasm and decided to take the chance on going ahead with the show as the girls are on tour. This is a real challenge for us at the Corn Exchange to sell so many tickets in just a few weeks and hopefully impress others with our sheer dedication to the promotion of the arts. We are still gaining new people through our doors week after week, this could bring in new faces from the Peterborough area to help with the growth of our entertainment programme and popularity of our new theatre. Sadly, many of the shows can't be accomodated on our stage; I was asked if we could fit on 60 musicians but until we create the stage extension this isn't possible. I am in negotiation with a local group of performers due to stage their show at the Broadway in a couple of months time, who are coming to look round the theatre tomorrow. We are of course willing to stage other productions from the Broadway if we can fit them into our ever growing programme.

We sincerely wish the Broadway all the best with hopefully a speedy repair of their beautiful theatre."

The Vagina Monologues - Wednesday 25th February 2009. 8pm ONE NIGHT ONLY

Sally Lindsay (Coronation Street), Sue Holderness (Only Fools and Horses) and Tina Gambe (Coronation Street) star in Britain's funniest and sexiest show. Now in its 10th acclaimed year, more than 2 million people have seen the show, and audiences still clamour for more. The ultimate girl's night is also compulsive viewing for men - as The Sunday Times said "See it, even if you haven't got one" (John Peter).
Every performance donates a portion of ticket sales to the V-day fund, which provides charitable aid to women and girls who have been victims of abuse and violence. Since May 2001 the West End & touring productions have donated in excess of £250,000 to local charities.

Show starts: 8pm Tickets £18.00 Box Office 01780 766455/754829 or Stamford Arts Centre
