Our purpose built Kindergarten and Pre-Preparatory Department is located within the Junior Department building. The Pre-Preparatory is a vibrant and stimulating self-contained department, with extremely dedicated and highly experienced staff. It consists of our Kindergarten, Transition, Pre-Preparatory class and Year 2 class.
Children are accepted into Kindergarten in the term in which they have their third birthday. From there, they progress into the Transition class and move up each September to the proceeding class.
Our Pre-Preparatory Department is warm and welcoming and we pride ourselves on the happy, friendly and safe environment that we provide for the children. Great care is given to the nurturing and of each child and learning takes place through child-centred fun, relevant, motivating and imaginative activities.
Our curriculum is a balance of self-initiated, teacher-led and structured learning programmes that allow children to progress at their own individual pace, whilst developing emotionally and socially; building a solid foundation of confidence, self esteem and a love of learning which are all pre-requisites for their future success. The Early Learning Goals are achieved through close monitoring and individual assessment of each child, which builds into their own unique profile.
The teachers play a central role, introducing children to song, movement, gesture and verse, with the children enjoying the world of stories, both educational and appropriate fairy tales, which are told to them amongst comfy sofas and cosy corners. The Pre-Preparatory Stage is loved by all the children and remembered as a fun-filled stage in their lives. Through this, they gain an understanding of the wider world around them and develop a cultural tolerance and awareness of other faiths and beliefs.
