Had a great hour taking a small boat out onto the river. The instruction gives you all the information you need to operate the boat (it's easy - you just need to get the knack of how much to turn the steering wheel). The stretch of river is very beautiful - lovely willow trees, lilies, bullrushes and wildlife. The river is not too busy and it is wide enough to pass other boat traffic. The experience was wonderful - both the agency of driving a boat, and the natural environment and the way the team made it go so smoothly. As Ratty said in Wind in the Willows "there is nothing half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats". A reminder to people hiring the boat to bring it back at the agreed time so that the next slot is not kept waiting.

Never been in charge of a boat before or used a lock! Everything explained thouroughly and we confidently sailed away. The lady who gave us all of our instructions reassured us that we could call at any time if we forgot anything or needed anything which made me feel looked after. It was great fun on the boat and it was comfortable, clean and even had a little 1st aid kit!
