Cambridgeshire Policing Spring Update 2011


Update on Previous identified priorities.

 
Speeding- Gt Staughton / Kimbolton & Stonely.
Education – Speedwatch letters Enforcement  - Fixed Penalty Notices / Report for Summons 17 for Gt Staughton / 35 for Stonely 

Use of Roads Policing Unit
Use of Rural Community Action team (RCAT)

Anti Social use of vehicles – A428
Patrols were increased within the area during peak times.
Identification & Education of ‘boy racers’ – advising of danger and use of section 59.
Worked with Tesco’s to help monitor problem.


Days of action x2  - 12 HGV’S were detected in excess of the threshold for their 40 MPH speed restriction and 8 light goods were detected in excess of the threshold for their 30 MPH speed restriction.
All will receive NIP’S and offered Speed Awareness courses.

ASB – Night Time Economy – Town Centre
Reported landlord for summons due to a breach of license.
Addition of 6 new individuals, banned from Pubwatch premises. 
Increased visible presence in Town Centre resulting in positive feedback from both late night venues
26 arrests that relate to the NTE – including 6 affray, 7 for D + D, 9 violent offences and 1 S.5 Public Order
Only 16% of violent crime is NTE related.

 

Crimes of Note:

  • Total crime has decreased by 10% Between  January 2011 and  March 2011 there has been a decrease of 10% or 40 crimes on the same period in 2010.
  • Decrease in Anti-Social Behaviour incidents.Between January 2011 and  March 2011 there were 248 Anti-Social Behaviour incidents, this was a 3.5% decrease on the same period in 2011 and was equivalent to a fall of 9 incidents.
  • Decreases in four of the eight wards - Four of the eight wards have seen decreases from the same period in 2010.  They are St Neots – Priory Park, Eaton Socon, Eaton Ford and Buckden.  The largest decrease was seen in St Neots – Priory Park which dropped from 86 to 68 offences


Justice Done!

 

 

BURGLAR!
A prolific Huntingdonshire burglar has been remanded in Police custody after being arrested for Burglary and Theft of Motor Vehicle. The offender is currently awaiting trial.


ASBO!!
A prolific St Neots nominal has been served with an Anti Social Behaviour Order. This order is enforceable for two years and has the power of arrest if any of the ASBO conditions are breached.

 
SHOPLIFTER!!
PC Richmond from St Neots NPT conducted an arrest of a prolific shoplifter within St Neots. Since the arrest was made no further reports have been made to the police.

Current neighbourhood Priorities

  • Night Time Economy -Regular Hi Visibility patrols are being conducted by local officers.
  • Continued engagement with the public is being conducted along with officers dealing with any issues which arise.
  • Set up of a Skate Park User group (non Police led) This project will see the Locality team lead the project. It involves setting up of a user group that will make the Riverside Skate Park more family friendly.

Cambs Police Officers have been partnered with camera crews from Sky Television over the past 6-8 weeks. Footage has been shot of officers dealing with different types of incidents. The show will run for a total of 10 weeks starting on Monday 30th May and can be seen on Sky1.
