PRIORY PARK PLAYGROUP IN BID TO WIN £6,000 FOR NEW BUILDING PROJECT

Priory Park Playgroup needs the support of as many people as possible in a bid to win £6,000 from this year’s Natwest Community Force awards.

Last year the Natwest Community Fund gave cash awards to hundreds of deserving projects across England and Wales and this year the pre-school in Almond Road, St Neots is hoping to be one of three lucky winners in Cambridgeshire.  The Playgroup’s Management Committee is asking as many people as possible to register on the website at http://communityforce.natwest.com and to vote for Priory Park Playgroup.  Voting opened on Monday 26 September and is only open for a limited time.

It will only take a few minutes for someone to register and vote but it would make a real difference to the hundred or so children currently at the Playgroup, and to future generations of children in St Neots.  The £6,000 award would be a step towards the £125,000 needed by the Playgroup to replace its ageing portacabin buildings and secure the pre-school’s future for the next 30 years.

Priory Park Playgroup has provided pre-school learning since 1979 for nearly 100 children, aged 2 to 4 years.  The Playgroup is a charity: it receives Nursery Education Funding for children from the term after their third birthday but is otherwise dependent on grants and donations for funding.

The Playgroup opens for five days a week in term time and children attend for a number of sessions.  They are divided between two rooms – the Rainbow Room and the Sunshine Room – according to age.
