Train to become a Lifeguard!

 

National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ course) in St Neots

 

One Leisure St Neots is running an NPLQ course in the New Year. The course will start on Wed, Jan 4th, and costs £225 which includes all equipment and an assessment fee, (although some candidates may be eligible for funding to attend the course at a reduced rate). The pre-requisite of the course, as required by the IQL, are :

 

·         Fit and healthy;

·         Completely confident in deep water;

·         Able to swim 50m in one minute or under;

·         Able to swim 100m on your front without pausing;

·         Able to swim 100m on your back without pausing;

·         Able to dive from the surface of the water to a depth of not less than 1.5 metres; and

·         Able to tread water for 30 seconds and exit the pool unaided.

Candidates may be required to perform a swimming ability test before the commencement of the course, and must be the minimum age of 16 years at the start of the course

 

A minimum of 31 hours attendance is required to complete the Unit 1 element of the course, and a minimum of 7 hours attendance is required to complete the Unit 2 element of the course.

 

Swimming costume, shorts and t-shirts are required for all pool sessions.

 

Exemptions for certain IQL approved qualifications may be possible; candidates should enquire prior to commencing the course.
