A Fundraising Concert for Molly & PHACE. (Loads going on)

Northbrook Equestrian Centre, Offord, St Neots.

Sunday 5th September. 2pm onwards

We have a little girl in our village called Molly.

Molly was diagnosed with PHACE syndrome in 2004 after she suffered a small stroke when she was 17 months old.

PHACE syndrome is the uncommon association between large infantile birthmarks, usually of the face and birth defects of the brain, heart, eyes, skin and/or arteries. Her left hand was slightly affected by the stroke but other than that Molly lived life as any other little girl.

On August 26th 2009 aged 6 years 3 months, Molly suffered a massive brain haemorrhage and a second stroke which affected her motor control. She spent 3 weeks on life support in intensive care at Great Ormond Street, and a further 5 weeks on the wards at GOS and Addenbrookes hospitals.

She lost the ability to move, speak or swallow. No one can say how much Molly will recover or how long it will take but the first year is vital. Molly is currently spending 3 months at The Children’s Trust rehabilitation centre in Surrey. A 6 month stay would be best for her but her PCT has agreed to fund an initial 3 month stay.

In April of this year some of the mothers in Molly’s class (and dads) ran the Sandy 10 mile race, hence the logo.

They raised an incredible amount of money and it is now time for the next stage.

Molly has now made some good progress and is often seen out and about in either her wheel chair or special tricycle, but there is still a long way to go and the difference that every week of care in the rehab centre is vital to this continuing.

To continue the fund raising we are organising a concert on the 5th September at Northbrook Equestrian Centre, Offord Cluny featuring live music for all the family. There will be an auction of celebrity memorabilia as well as the usual raffles and stalls.

The bar will be run by the Horseshoe Inn, a Hog Roast and BBQ by Diane’s Hog Roast. There will be a demonstration by St Neots Fire Brigade White Watch with a Marquee supplied by Concept Marquees St. Neots, plus much more.

If you would like to help in any way or know anyone that can get us something special to auction or raffle prizes etc. please contact me ASAP.

This is not a plea for money, though that will be appreciated later, just a bit of your time and thought.

If you prefer not to hear any more about Molly, please let me know by replying with “NO” in the subject line. I understand that this will not be of interest to everyone and that many have more than enough to deal with already. I will also not be bombarding you with further emails.

If you would like to help and find out more, please reply with a “yes” and I will keep you informed of what is happening.

Please feel free to share with any friends of yours that might be interested.

Thankyou for taking the time to read this blog
