Keep Your Cool In The Heat!

Isn't it funny how everyone seems to immediately cheer up as soon as the sun comes out?

Make the most of the hot weather we get this summer by following these tips:

Wear Loose-fitting Clothes

Lightweight, loose-fitting, light coloured clothes will fit the bill and try to keep footwear to a minimum. If you're going to be outside don't forget your sunscreen (sunburn can affect your body's ability to cool itself and causes a loss of body fluids, never mind the pain and damage to the skin). Make sure you have a hat to keep the sun off your face, neck and top of your head too. Drink Plenty of Fluids. Don't wait until you're thirsty to drink (by then you're already dehydrating) and if you are exercising make sure you drink two to four glasses of cool fluids each hour! Water is best but for something refreshingly different why not try an Iced Coffee or a fruit packed smoothie from Shakie Jakes at their new premises on the High Street?

So What Should You Eat?

Heavy meals can make you feel worse in the heat, especially if you have to cook it yourself. However, you still need to eat regularly! How about high quality dining pub food at The Eltisley or The Horseshoe Inn & Restaurant to meet your friends for a light lunch? As the temperature drops in the evening why not have some great British Fish and Chips from Traditional Fish & Chips? Or maybe a delicious taste of the Orient with Long Yuen Court Chinese Restaurant & Takeaway instead - they even deliver!

What else can we suggest except to repeat that old saying "Only mad dogs and English men go out in the midday sun!"

Do your chores in the morning and early evening and try to stay in the shade during the hottest hours.
