The Woodcraft Folk is a UK-wide organisation which is dedicated to growing the confidence and social awareness of young people. Last year Woodcraft Folk launched the New Groups Project Eastern with funding from Youth investment fund which brings together money from the government department for Digital, Culture, Media and sport and the big lottery fund.

The Woodcraft Folk was created in 1925 to provide an alternative way for boys and girls to escape the city and discover the outdoors. Groups today run all over the UK and involve children in games, discussion, craft, community action and outdoor activities that help children explore and understand the world around them. The New Groups Project has been working since 2017 on opening new groups in Diss, Norwich, Lowestoft, Cambridge, Peterborough and we have recently opened a new group in St Neots.

Woodcraft Folk is passionate about providing children with brilliant new experiences. We have opened a Pioneer group for 9-12 year olds who meet Thursdays during term time at the Paxton Pits nature reserve visitors centre. At group nights we play fun cooperative games, explore big ideas, and make exciting craft. We also offer the opportunity for our young people to go on camping trips and days out and most importantly meet new friends from near and far.  We are looking for young people to join our groups but also looking for adult volunteers to help run our groups. All our volunteers will have the opportunity to come on free training with us and meet other leaders from all over the country.

Woodcraft Folk groups are run by volunteers, and are open to families of all faiths and none. Groups aim to keep activities accessible and affordable for all. So get in touch and come along and join us for our new group in St Neots.

Woodcraft Folk has places available in their new group in St Neots for young people aged from 9-12, and has volunteering opportunities for young people and adults. For more information email lauren.karstadt@woodcraft.org.uk or look us up on Facebook and Twitter – St Neots Woodcraft Folk.

I've lived in St Neots since I was 13, and boy how it's changed. I'm always looking to promote everything great in and around our town.
