"Best of St Neots" Business Shortlisted for LBA Award

Kingfisher Independent Funeral Services, the only locally-owned, fully independent Funeral Directors in St Neots, have been shortlisted for the Local Business Accelerators competition.

The nationwide campaign, which was launched in October by regional and local newspapers across the country and backed by Prime Minister David Cameron and Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden, will see 1,500 firms receive £15million of free advertising to help boost their businesses in 2012.

The judges - The Hunts Post editor Andy Veale, Graham Buck from the Federation of Small Businesses, chairman of the Huntingdonshire Chamber of Commerce Katie Hart and social networking coach Lucy Cooney - reported that entries were of an extremely high standard, with enthusiastic firms recognising the benefits that local advertising can bring.

The four businesses to have made the LBA shortlist are: Your Sign Company of Huntingdon, Kingfisher Funeral Directors in St Neots, Crafty Monkey Pottery, also in St Neots, and the Cutting Room in Huntingdon. The firms will now be contacted by one the judges before the winner is selected by the judging panel. As well as receiving top professional advice from our business mentors, the prize also includes a substantial allocation of free advertising space in the pages of The Hunts Post.

In addition, Deborah Meaden will also become a mentor to one overall business, picked from the hundreds of regional winners, providing invaluable business support

throughout 2012 to drive the business forward.

“The range of businesses that have entered the Local Business Accelerator competition has been impressive - from a retailer of baby clothes and caterers through to website designers, there is a large and diverse range of fledgling companies in Huntingdonshire,” said Andy Veale, Editor of The Hunts Post. “Now we have the shortlist, the even more difficult task begins of finding an overall winner - a business that will thrive with the added benefits of free advertising and expert advice.”

The winner will be announced in The Hunts Post on Wednesday, January 11.

Kingfisher Independent Funeral Services are proud to be the only locally-owned, fully independent Funeral Directors in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. I've lived in St Neots since I was 13, and boy how it's changed. I'm always looking to promote everything great in and around our town.
