. . . . This June the celebrated Sustainability Festival begins with the very first SustFest Expo, the headline event of this year's programme. The organisers have brought together a weekend of workshops, speakers, exhibitors, presentations, and activities for all. These will showcase everything from sustainable fashion to the harnessing of nature’s powers for good, alongside shopping opportunities, learning zones and plenty more besides.

Headline speakers include Mark Avery, former conservation director of the RSPB, who will be taking stage on the Sunday afternoon. Best known for his work with Chris Packham on Wild Justice he is a renowned naturist with key insights into the future of nature for us.

Former political strategist and now co-director of the Climate Majority project, Rupert Read, will also be on hand, offering his dynamic, engaging view of how we tackle climate action. Rebecca Nesbitt, ecologist and award-winning author, along with acclaimed nature writer Vanessa Wright, have also added their names to the growing list of high-profile speakers scheduled to appear.

A variety of organisations will be present, details of which will be announced via the Sustainable St Albans website and SustFest social media platforms as they are confirmed over the coming weeks.

Sonya Jefferson, event lead for the project explained - We wanted to encapsulate the successes of previous SustFests but aim higher with more opportunities for people to learn, meet and come together. By holding the event in one location we hope to encourage people to explore activities and experiences which they may not normally consider.

Another core member of the Expo team, Lee Wood, has highlighted the diversity of the line-up, We have been delighted with the levels of interest and excitement around the event. Having attracted some fantastic speakers and workshops, we hope to appeal to everyone. The ambition of the Expo is to create a culture of change, encourage action and help provide the platforms to do so - all whilst maintaining the vital community centred approach of previous festivals.

The Sustainable St Albans SustFest Expo 2024 will be at The Alban Arena from 7-9 June, free to attend and the events are aimed at the whole community.

There are still opportunities to be involved, either as a sponsor, exhibitor, or volunteer.
