The North West Air Ambulance (NWAA) a charitable organisation providing a unique service covering Southport Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside and Cumbria.
This unique regional medical air emergency service was established in 1999,and is a registered charitable organisation dependent on donations, yet offering a vital service seven days a week, 365 days a year across 5,500 square miles serving a residential population of seven million in the area around Southport.
Costing £1.3 million a year to maintain and totally dependent on donations, the NWAA covers all major motorway incidents, or incidents where time is extremely crucial or road access is limited. On average the NWAA is called out four times a day, rising up to ten in the summer.
The NWAA can reach the nearest appropriate hospital in eight minutes from anywhere in the region. The speed with which medical care can be delivered is often crucial. Receiving care and treatment at the scene and arriving at the hospital with the “Golden Hour”, dramatically improves chances of survival and speed of recovery. All this is provided by a charity dependant on your donations.
The NWAA is a charity which ensures a very high standard of care is met, whilst overcoming the problem of distance and congestion. Highly qualified paramedics and sophisticated equipment are brought to the patient. All the crew are operational ambulance staff who have received the necessary special additional training . All this is paid for by donations.
The NWAA, a charitable organisation, is the fastest emergency service. Expert pilots and paramedics work 365 days per year to watch over the people of Southport and the North West. Donations are needed to maintain this service.
