Van Gogh Inspired Collage and Hand Stitch Workshop with textile artist Lis Mann Hosted by Solihull Embroiderers EVENT CANCELLED due to Covid19

Unfortunately we have had to cancel this and our other workshops in 2020 due to Covid 19.  We hope you will join us to explore some creative textiles at an event in 2021.

Join us for a fun day of hand stitch with textile artist Lis Mann. The marks of some impressionist painters such as Van Gogh are reminiscent of stitch.

The day will start by looking at different paintings, gathering inspiration and making thumb nail sketches.  You will then create the backgrounds for the stitch using small pieces of silk or faux silk coloured with silk paints. These will be collaged onto a plain ground ready for the stitching.

The idea is not to create copies of his paintings (unless of course you would like to) but to use them to inspire your own way of working. The outcome may not be a completed work, because the joy of hand stich is about the process and the rhythm but you will have enough information to complete at your own pace in your own time.

Suitable for those 18+ with any stitch ability

Refreshments included but bring own packed lunch.

Venue: Shirley Institute, Church Road, Shirley Solihull West Midlands B90 2AX.

Car parking is available and the building is wheelchair accessible.

Fee- Only £45
