On Friday 7th August from 2pm-4pm, Care UK’s Blossomfield Grange will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
Visitors to the Worcester Way home can look forward to enjoying street food from around the world, including Spanish-inspired patatas bravas, paneer curry, chicken chow mein and traditional pie and mash served with gravy.
Residents have played their part in preparing for the event by growing fresh herbs in the home’s garden, which will be used to enhance the dishes.
There will also be a live performance from the Boogaloo Babes, who will be bringing 1940s hits and nostalgic musical memories to the home.
Resident Margo Miller, said: “I am very much looking forward to the event and am looking forward to trying different foods from around the world.”
The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Each festival will offer sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
