The Coniston Hotel is due to open it's doors on 8th October. I do of course write this date with caution. Two years ago, with just two weeks to go, food in the chillers and staff fully trained and eagerly waiting, the Coniston Hotel was cruelly taken (in my opinion) from it's then owners Ernie Berntsen and Chris Richardson when good old Nat West bank pulled their funding. The sad result was the loss of 60 jobs and an empty building left tantalizingly close to completion.
However, the new owners are keen to assure us that the Coniston will once again become an important building in the town. Only time will tell.
