Mathmapics is a Sittingbourne based family business headed by Peter Gruitt an experienced Maths tutor. He has been head of department in two large secondary schools and now has a thriving tuition business teaching mathematics to children in Year 4 through to Year 11.
Mathmapics is a very effective method of learning using the latest techniques to ensure that children are drawn into the subject by making it fun, interesting, practical and relevant. Peter teaches Maths in a way that captures children's imaginations and brings the subject to life. The practical activities used to support topics is what makes Mathmapics different to most private tuition.
Peter is primary and secondary trained and up to date with all latest initiatives, National Curriculum and SATs requirements. For the last few years he has been working with a local Sittingbourne school to supplement their maths lessons prior to the 11+. Everyone is delighted with the pass rate for the 11+ and improvement in SATs grades.
After experimenting with various class sizes, Peter has found that the optimum class size is groups of no more than 5 - Big enough to have some buzz whilst small enough to address each individual's learning needs.
Each lesson lasts 1¼ hours and costs £17. Parents are invoiced half-termly for tuition fees. Classes run during term time only, but one to one private tuition is offered during school holidays to sort particular individual difficulties.
Peter also tutors children identified as gifted and talented in Years 1 and 2.
