Shrewsbury College is in the running for the Marketing/Communications Campaign of the Year Award, at the prestigious Times Education supplement (tes) Further Education (FE) Awards 2016.

The annual awards mark the achievements of the very best further education providers in the UK and celebrates the dedication and expertise of the people and teams who continue to make a significant contribution to improving the skill levels of young people and adult learners.

Shrewsbury College entered their Higher Education recruitment campaign, ‘why not you too?’ It is the first time the College has entered the awards.

Marketing and Admissions team leader, Charmian Turner, said: “We are thrilled to be shortlisted for the award - It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication the team put into the campaign.

“Our campaign was targeted at encouraging local people to study a Higher Education course. We used examples of real students to dispel obstacles people had to study at this level, such as time, family, age, work or financial commitments – to offer them a ‘second chance’ and raise aspirations with the strapline Why not you too? As well as raising awareness of our HE provision we were delighted that recruitment increased by 24% on last year.

TES FE editor Stephen Exley said: “The sheer range of entries for the 2016 TES FE Awards is a real showcase for the phenomenal work and groundbreaking initiatives that are going on within training providers and colleges throughout the UK.

Eight colleges have been shortlisted in the Marketing/communications campaign of the year category at the TES FE Awards and the winner will be announced on Friday 22 April during the ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

The College’s marketing team also picked up the gold award for the Higher Education Campaign at the College Marketing Network awards in November last year.
